Imagine a world where there are no humans in sight, only miles of wooded land, and animals living freely. This is the setting for the 2024 animated film The Wild Robot. The Wild Robot was originally a children’s book written by Peter Brown, and the film is directed by Chris Sanders. The Wild Robot is an adventure PG film. The film is about a robot that ends up in the wild. The robot named Roz must learn and adapt to her environment. During her time in the forest, she discovers a goose egg. Roz helps raise the baby goose and helps teach the baby Goose how to fly and swim. By the end, Roz discovers what love and emotion feel like due to all her experiences and memories she made during her time in the forest.
Some important characters in the film are Roz, the sly fox named Fink, the gosling BrightBill, and an elder goose named Longneck. These characters are voiced by Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Kit Conner, and Bill Nighy. The charters and character development in this film is outstanding. Throughout the film, we see a robot go from having no emotion to learning what it is like to have a life purpose full of emotion and love from the others around her. Not only that, but we see BrightBill learn the importance of found family and acceptance of who you are. Some important moments in this film are Roz finding BrightBill’s egg and raising him, BrightBill learning to fly, and all the animals in the forest coming together. Not only are these moments important and impactful, but they really get you in your feels by the amazing art style and score.
What makes The Wild Robot so captivating are the visuals and absolutely incredible score. The animation in this film is extremely beautiful and the environment around the animals are put together in a way where the colors and design make it look very painting-like. While watching the movie, it looks like you are watching a moving painting the entire time. Now, the score is what really steals the show. The score in this movie is able to pull and tug on your heartstrings and really transfer you into the movie’s world. Every detail you can think of is in the score, emotional buildup, a sympathy of strings, unique rhythms and more. Also, the background sound effects are just great. The sound effects just really make the movie feel real and like there are real animals on the screen instead of animated ones. I also loved how the movement of all the animals were so spot on and paid attention to, it really brings the movie to life.
Overall, I would give this movie 5 out of 5 stars. I think this movie is just absolutely beautiful in all aspects. I would 100% recommend this movie to anyone one of any age. Especially to young kids or anyone who loves animals. The Wild Robot is an outstanding movie with great themes and a fun and emotional movie to watch with loved ones.
