Junior Lucas Zarlenga, is a spectacular player on Sunlake’s boys varsity baseball team. Recently, the team traveled out to Largo to play the Northeast team. Fortunately, Sunlake took home the win, with a final score of six to one. Lucas has been playing for the team since his freshmen year, having one JV season under his belt, and moving into his second varsity season. Of course, the team is fresh into their 2025 season, and Lucas had this to say about beginning their exciting new start: “The season has started off pretty rocky so far, but we are making a lot of progress. Our defense is locking-down, including our pitching, but our bats are starting off pretty slow.”
Lucas has always been sure to stick to baseball, because the sport holds a special place in his heart. “I’ve been playing baseball my whole life since I was three, and it’s really just the love of the game that keeps me going and the hope that I can make it to the next level so I can make all the sacrifices my parents made worth it”.
At the end of the day, Lucas is an awesome Sunlake athlete who is looking forward to being a part of the baseball team as the season unfolds.
