Sunlake High School’s lacrosse team had something to prove in their highly anticipated game against St. Petersburg High School. After last year’s matchup, the Seahawks were eager for redemption—and they delivered. “The game against St. Pete was definitely a big one for us,” said Sunlake senior Cody Spera. “We had something to prove after last year, so there was a lot of motivation going into it.” That motivation translated into a strong performance, with Sunlake securing a key victory. The energy going into the game set the tone for their success. “One thing that really stood out to me before the game was just the energy—everyone was locked in and ready to make a statement,” Spera said. Spera, who has been playing lacrosse since his freshman year, felt confident in both his individual performance and the team’s overall execution. “Sunlake came out on top, which was huge,” he said. “Personally, I feel like I played to the best of my ability, and as a team, I think we really stepped up.” With this momentum, Sunlake looks to continue making an impact as the season progresses.
