When she was only 15 years old, Stella had already made the Sunlake High School Lacrosse girls’ team. As soon as she learned how to talk, lacrosse has been a part of her life. When she gets on the field, she doesn’t just play lacrosse, she lives the game.
Stella started her sport journey at a very young age. “I love lacrosse it’s now a part of my routine!” As I interview Stella every question I ask Stella answers with a big smile on her face. Her emotions let you know that she loves what she is doing. As just a fifteen-year-old girl that loves going to the beach and being with her friends, she won two awards for lacrosse, which are not her last victories. But what first got Stella Babine into lacrosse? Was it her own decision? “Well, my parents put me into lacrosse when I was very little, to me it was a good decision that they made.”
When one of the games started Stella was ready to play that day! How did she prepare? “Before every game I eat an apple and drink an energy drink while listening to my favorite music” she says. When the game started Stella was very much ready to win. That day Stella scored her first high school career goal. That was a very big day at lacrosse for Stella because that started her official stats at Sunlake ever. But how did she even get to Sunlake? Only this year she moved to Florida. Her family decided that she would go to Sunlake. Was joining the school lacrosse team, when moving states, a good decision for Stella? Will it affect her future? Yes, for Stella it is definitely opening a bright future. Her future goal is to play collage lacrosse, and Coach NFL.
But does she now like what she is doing? Is there a point? Did Stella Babine ever want to quit her sport that seems really important to her, and that is a big part of life? Stella says: “In the past I had a bad coach, and he made me hate my life.” A bad coach can change a lot in an athlete’s journey, but Stella was strong enough to continue trying to enjoy her sport. What changed right now, what is her favorite part of being on the Sunlake high school lacrosse team? While doing an interview I asked Stella that question. Her answer was very easy, and she answered immediately without a second thought. “Probably games and playing with the people I like to play with. Like for example my team friends.”
Stella’s journey may sound easy, and like she doesn’t force a lot of difficulties as a lacrosse player, but Stella gives a lot of her own time to the sport. She practices six days a week, and only one day she gets to rest. Well, what would Stella Babine say to people that are just starting their lacrosse journey? Does she have any tips? “I would say practice every day, because if you don’t you won’t get any better, as my tip I would say just stay constant!”
