Madi Troiani is a senior at Sunlake High School, and she is a multi-talented, standout student-athlete, who lives a day-to-day life that is constantly highlighted by athletics. When Madi was young, her family had always pushed her to be an athlete, and eventually as she grew older, she had gained many accomplishments and responsibilities due to her athletic talents.

Madi Troiani has played many sports, and notably, she has many long-standing accomplishments in Gymnastics. At a young age, Madi was encouraged to doing gymnastics to her full extent by her family and peers. Madi enjoyed the sport and the hustle very much, as she takes pride in her athleticism. This talented young athlete then went on to excel for 14 years as a gymnast, winning a state championship and being a main coach for 2 of those 14 years. She explains, “I was a gymnast for 14 years and coached for two after that – Gymnastics was kind of my whole childhood.”
As time went on for Madi, she began getting injuries as she grew. At the age of 14, Madi had suffered a severe foot injury which had eventually led to her departure from Gymnastics. With this, Madi had found a new way to continue her athletic journey when her friend had invited her to join the girls weightlifting team. “I just wanted to really get back into athletics because I hadn’t been working out seriously for a while – so I thought, might as well join the team, and it ended up being really fun.” Madi mentions. When Madi had joined the team, she excelled in it immensely, not only because of her naturally physical abilities, but also her extremely supportive team. She exclaims, “We had a really impressive roster on the girl’s weightlifting team… it’s definitely probably one of the best teams I’ve ever been a part of!”

When Weightlifting season came to a close, Madi had picked up theatre during her junior year, with her friends encouraging her to audition for a school play. Even though Madi had no past experience in acting or theatre, she had decided to do so anyway which landed her a supporting lead role in the production of “Medea,” which revolves around the old story of Medea, a woman who was betrayed by her husband and had gone on a revenge story, killing her ex-husbands new bride. Regardless of the large amounts of stress that she carried at the time, being in an unfamiliar environment outside of sports, she had given her all to the role. Being apart of theatre, Madi was introduced to a community of passionate, creative people. After her role in “Medea,” Madi had stuck with her passion for theatre. Realizing her enjoyment in the program, she took her talents further by having the opportunity to help choreograph the next production of “Mamma Mia,” which deepened her love for theatre, “For Mamma Mia, I ended up helping choreograph the whole show. I had never done that before, but I just threw myself into it—and loved it.” Madi continued theatre into her senior year, and she even helped choreograph many of the ongoing productions at Sunlake.
Over many years of juggling all of her talents and passions, Madi had grown both physically and mentally. She had been able to do what she loved and she wouldn’t take it back any day. Her dedication to her passions even led to her quitting one of her jobs so that she could focus on theatre production. On top of her balancing her AP classes constantly, she had a lot of stress on her mind, but being as talented as she is she pulled through because of her love for the game, “Athletics make you a better person. It messes you up mentally sometimes, sure—but it also gives you something to fight for.”
