Students at Sunlake High School always have their favorite times of the day. Whether it’s when they get to go home, go to their favorite period, or go to lunch. Among most students, lunch is the best period for them as they get to sit, chat with friends, and eat some food. In recent times, most schools have started lunch very early or very late, which can be a little annoying for most students. If we are being honest, students should be eating around 12 at the very least or 11:30. Sunlake has always been changing their bell schedule, and they have done it very well, but for lunch recently, it’s always been either too early or too late. However, for next year, the bell schedule has been released, and we will be having all lunches during the 6th period. For some, this may be great, but for most, it’s not good, as having lunch at the end of the day is way too long to wait for lunch. A student wanted to share their opinions on next year’s lunch schedule.
Caleb Gray is a freshman at Sunlake High School. He has said that throughout his high school career, ” I have enjoyed my time at Sunlake. I’ve made many new friends and enjoyed all of my classes. I believe it’s all preparing me for college.” It’s been an excellent year for Caleb with so much to look forward to in his sophomore year. One of the things he learned about was that the 6th period was going to hold all of the lunches, and this caught his eye as something that could be very interesting for next year. Caleb, at first glance, says that, ” I don’t like 6th period lunch. Lunch is kind of a midday break for us students. We won’t get that luxury when lunch is at the end of the day.” It’s a strong opinion by Caleb, and most students will probably agree with him. Now thinking student-wise wise he believes, ” This does not benefit students. This change doesn’t make any sense. Most students are used to lunch being at 4th period.” As Caleb voices his opinion, we can say he’s speaking for most students. We shouldn’t have to wait until the very end of the day to have lunch. We need that, like a mid-day break. Caleb also believes overall, ” This is not the right choice. I think they should keep the schedule as they have right now.” I think most students have benefited from this year’s schedule, and it’s been a perfect balance. I think we will just have to wait and see how next year’s schedule will play out, and then voice opinions on the new schedule.
