Colin Myers is a senior, and after a full year of home-schooling on FLVS, he is super excited to get back to school at Sunlake!
Halfway through his sophomore year, Colin made the decision to switch to online school for a while, in order to be able to work on his classes at his own pace. But, after a year and a half, Colin wanted to return to Sunlake. Although online school provided flexibility and independence, Colin eventually realized that he wanted to return to Sunlake for the full high school experience. “For FLVS, I was really the only one giving myself motivation, now I have a lot more people helping me and supporting me. I have the best of both worlds, because I can still do online classes but I also have the in-person courses which is very nice. It just so happened that the dice fell perfectly on snake eyes.” Most importantly, Colin did not want to miss out on the activities of his senior year. If he had done classes online this year, Colin would have missed senior sunrise, as well as every other excellent senior activity. Being back at Sunlake means not only enjoying academics, but also the social connections and experiences that make the year unforgettable.
Over the summer, Colin had to continue working hard through his FLVS courses so that he had the right credits to return to Sunlake. But at the end of the day, it was all worth it for Colin, who said “Switching back to Sunlake feels great. I get to see all my friends now, I have more interactive experience with my teachers, and I enjoy the course materials better.”
All in all, Colin is a devoted student who is looking forward to enjoying his senior year, back at Sunlake. Although online school was nice, for Colin, the most important thing was getting the senior-experience.
