Incoming freshmen Sami Stewart kicks off her summer with the long tradition of going to New Jersey to visit grandparents. They are just two houses down from the bay and look forward to watching the sunset every night. The horseshoe crabs line the bay while they walk down the shore taking in the New Jersey breeze.
Summers have become one of the only times she gets to see them and spend quality time with them. Her favorite part of the trip wouldn’t be what you would guess. Card games make minutes feel like seconds with the consistent outbreaks of laughter and friendly competition between her, (Lizzie) her sister and her grandparents. Sami’s favorite restaurant in New Jersey is Mustaches Bill’s diner. She said, “it’s a nice little diner and you can see the Barneget lighthouse right outside.”
During freshman year she is most looking forward to meeting new people and seeing all the new opportunities high school has to offer. Sami is already on the cross country and track team and worked hard all summer to get prepared for her first race coming up. Sami is interested in the medical field and had an opportunity to go to the St. Joeseph’s medical career camp this summer. She said, “it was really educational with a lot of hands-on learning plus getting to meet and see different people and seeing their diverse specialties made my passion for the medical field grow so much more.” The yearly New Jersey trip was the perfect start to Sami’s year.
