This summer, Freshman Aliyah Halperin worked hard in the gym to focus on her transition to high school basketball. Aliyah and her teammates focused on communication and defensive intensity so that they can have a strong presence together on and off the court. On her own time, Aliyah tried to focus on being strong with the ball as well as staying in front of people on the defensive end of the floor. Aliyah was motivated to stay consistent with her energy in practice throughout the summer because of her goal to make a high school roster in the fall. “I’m really looking forward to being apart of the high school program and just being able to be involved in a good program that’s serious about basketball.” She shares.

In the months of June and July her and her teammates played aau and participated in summer league games. They also travelled up the coast to Tallahassee to play in Florida State University’s Women’s Basketball Team Camp, where they competed against teams other high school teams located in the state. Aliyah also got the chance to bond with her teammates this summer as they traveled and spent time with each other, “…aside from the fact that we have all been close for a long time, it was good to get to better know each other.” She exclaimed. Coming off of a strong district championship win, and a chance at going to states, Lake Girls’ Ball is set to have a great season, with the addition of many new assets to their roster.
