Welcoming the new school year at Sunlake High School, the yearbook family has grown with new staffers joining its ranks. In the wave of new people, we have Victoria Skiba, a sophomore who’s excited for the new challenge. She joined this year eager to improve her soft skills in communication and with people, in the process of setting the foundation of her future. Even though she does not have prior experience in Yearbook, her childhood highlights her “extrovert” aspect of her life, creating the goal of now improving the skills she once had.
Since joining, Victoria has enjoyed the nice environment and welcoming community that Yearbook provides, with all the support and encouragement that the older staffers have shown. When asked what her favorite part is so far, she states, “My favorite part, is probably, the photography part. I really want to get into that”. Which she also says is something she wants to improve as well, although she is already a talented photographer at heart.

Victoria has always been very devoted to taking pictures of the sky, she says during an interview about her photograph that “I’ve never been good at taking pictures of people” saying that for this reason Yearbook would help her improve an already established passion.
She took this picture when walking around her neighborhood in need of fresh air to clear her head after a long day at school. And on this adventure, the sun setting caught the eye of this aspiring artist. She says that she has always been fond of the sky, “I don’t know, every time I take a picture of the sky, and look up to it, I fall in love all over again [with the sky] because it’s so beautiful…” Hopefully, throughout this school year, Victoria will combine her passions with the things that she learns in yearbook to create more beautiful photographs like this one!
