Sophomore, Ariel Powell is excited about the start of her 10th-grade year, she has different feelings about the school year. The summer months, filled with moments spent with friends and family, put with dedicated practice her volleyball skills, have left her feeling ready to reconnect and go back to school. More than anything, Ariel is excited to meet new faces and make new friendships, hoping that this school year will be filled with fun experiences and lasting connections that will enrich her high school journey. She’s also excited about going into new classes with different teachers, each of who she hopes will bring a unique perspective and make learning helpful and relevant to her future aspirations.
Ariel’s main goal for this year is to improve her academic performance and strengthen her existing friendships while also forming new ones. She’s determined to put forth in her grades, showing that her hard work in studies will pave the way for future success in higher grades and even college opportunities. Enrolled in honors World History, Chemistry, and English, she understands the challenges of keeping up with work but is ready for the hassle. Already, she’s strategizing how to stay organized, manage her time effectively, and keep up with homework and studying.
Among all her teachers, Ariel cherishes memories of Mrs. Shea, her favorite teacher in the school, her 9th-grade math teacher, who left a rememberable mark on her freshman journey. “Mrs. Shea prepared me so well for geometry this year. I truly admire her patience and the way she encourages problem-solving skills. She’s always willing to help even when feeling overwhelmed, and I feel prepared for this school year because of her having me prepared.” Ariel is also excited about the upcoming football games, homecoming, and becoming more actively involved in school events and activities. She is participating in a wide range of events, like the powderpuff team, to make the most of her 10th grade experience.
