Keagan Hedger, a junior joined the yearbook staff to be a part of something bigger. For Keagan, helping create the yearbook means contributing to something the whole school will remember. It is not just about filling the pages; it is about capturing memories that students can look back on long after the school years have ended.
One of the main things Keagan hopes to do in the yearbook is to focus on photography and the student news. “Photography has always been a passion, and a creative outlet and yearbook provides the perfect way to use it to represent the school.” Keagan believes photos can tell stories in a way words sometimes cannot. He wants his work to highlight the spirit and energy of the student body.
What excites Keagan most about the class is the creative freedom. “There is not creative limit, you can express yourself while also expressing the school.” That freedom makes yearbook a unique place to try new ideas and find different ways to tell the stories of the school year.
Keagan is working on his interview he had to do. ” This is something new that i didn’t know if I would enjoy but I do enjoying doing these interviews a lot.” Keagan has found something new he enjoys doing for this class.
When it comes to coverage, Keagan is especially interested in sports and student life. He feels that school spirit is not always seen by everyone, he wants to change that through his work. By capturing the energy of games, events, and everyday moments, Keagan hopes to show everyone just how much spirit the school really has.
Of course, taking on such an important role comes with some nerves. Keagan admits he is worried about letting the team down or not fully living up to expectations. Still, that worry motivates him to give his best effort towards that book.
Ultimately, Keagan’s biggest goal in yearbook is growth. He hopes to continue improving their still as both a photographer and journalists while helping create a yearbook the whole school will be proud of.
