Senior sunrise is an awesome event that allows Sunlake’s wonderful seniors to gather and watch the sun climb the horizon on their last first-day. Students get to enjoy some Chick-Fil-A breakfast, and gather into the football stadium in droves. One of these seniors is Jerome Guirgius, who had this to say about the event: “I really enjoyed taking photos and I was very proud of my Hi-Vis vest and shirt that I was wearing. It was nice seeing everyone getting together and watching the sunrise. Even people who didn’t like each other were getting along for the good of everyone, and it was definitely a nice feeling seeing everyone together. I was very happy to see all my friends, but I was definitely also sad that high school is nearly over and that this whole chapter of my life is coming to an end.”
Jerome also had a funny reaction when he found out the event was having food. “I didn’t know that there was going to be good breakfast at senior sunrise, so I had bought nine McDonald’s hashbrowns in the morning, but I only got to eat like four of them and then I was full so I didn’t get to really enjoy the food they had.”
Senior sunrise always sparks ambitions, because it makes seniors start thinking about their future and what they want to do after high school. In Jerome’s case, he plans to go to an awesome university, saying, “After my senior year I plan on going to college, I’m definitely aiming for Harvard, but if I have to, I will settle for UCF or FSU. I plan on majoring in biology and minoring in business. If I get into Harvard, I’m going to paint my face red and come to school in a full Harvard fit. I won’t tell anyone but there will be signs.”
