In the company of the Sunlake Class of 2026, Reese Van Brocklin spent the beginning of her first day of school bright and early at the football stadium to watch the sunrise. Going into her first day, Reese exclaimed how excited she was to see her friends after summer, as well as how ready she was to get back into a routine. With this first-day happiness, Reese also was a little sad knowing that it will be her last year as a high schooler, but despite this she made the most of her first day. As the sun rose that morning, Reese took pictures with her friends and classmates that she will hold onto for a lifetime.
With it being her senior year, Reese will be experiencing a lot of lasts, however she plans to make the most of them. This year she is looking forward to her last Homecoming game and her last Prom. As a member of Sunlake’s student council, Reese will be playing a large role in both of these events. As far as Homecoming, Reese explains that, “Our homecoming game is so exciting, especially for me, as I am in charge of court committee this year and will be on the field, directing the jeep drivers and handling gifts, flowers, and other things.”
When it comes to the future and college, Reese has huge plans, hoping to major in nursing and rush a sorority at whichever school she chooses to attend. Personally, she plans to go upstate to Florida State University in Tallahassee. Concerning her plans for college, she emphasizes that, “Both of these are things that I have looked forward to for years, and have motivated me to do my best in my time here at Sunlake!”
After high school, Reese will have to leave some things behind as she leaves for college. One of these things that she holds very close is her sister, Taylor Van Brocklin, who is a freshman at Sunlake. It is very special to Reese that she is able to spend her last year at Sunlake with her sister, and although she is not able to see Taylor much throughout the school day, Reese loves hearing about her day and the classes that she has, as she had many of the same teachers and experiences. Concerning their time at school together, Reese says, “I know it is annoying to constantly be asked, ‘Are you Reese’s sister,’ and I know this because many people ask me the same question. I hope that I have set a positive precedent for Taylor at Sunlake, establishing a name for us both.” Both Reese and Taylor are highly talented and involved individuals at Sunlake, both being members of student council. Reese’s senior year will be nothing short of fun with Taylor by her side, as they each get to experience their first and last years of high school with each other.
