One day you’re starting kindergarten and then you blink and you’re a senior. August 11th marked Kailyn Fords last first day.
Kailyn sat with friends at senior sunrise, music playing. They shared donuts, chicken minis, hashbrowns, coffee, and Sunny D, laughing together. Kailyn said, “the food and my friends made it worth it to wake up extra early considering I don’t have a first period on campus.”
Kailyn Ford, a dedicated varsity athlete in cross country and track since her freshman year, has served as captain during both her junior and now her senior season. For her senior parking spot, she combined her two favorite things—cows and running—into a creative design. With the help of her mom and Katelin Wilcox, Kailyn painted pastel-colored cow prints across the space. To finish it off, her teammates added their own footprints, symbolizing “running with the herd” and celebrating the sense of community and family running has given her.
Kailyn has many goals for her senior year. One of them maintaining honor roll since she is in NHS and NAHS. Another goal Kailyn has is to commit to a school for not just her academics but to continue her running career as well.
Kailyn has always dreamed of traveling, and she hopes to study abroad in the near future. She is especially drawn to Italy and Turkey, excited to experience their history, vibrant cultures, and food. Her boyfriend, Augustas, who grew up in Turkey, has further inspired her interest to learn more about the country’s traditions and way of life.
Kailyn Ford said she is “looking forward to graduation and the opportunities that come with it.” She knows this year will involve making many decisions, but she feels ready to work toward her goals.
