This week was a busy but exciting one for Sophia, who was handling both practices and schoolwork. On Monday, she had volleyball practice where she was both focused and energetic. She worked on receiving serves and hitting lines while also helping run drills. She made sure that she learned the right techniques and ways to be able to master those skills. She also expressed “I’m glad I’m able to play with the girls I love.” This shows her commitment to the team. Tuesday brought laughter with Powderpuff practice, where she helped coach the boys through their dance routine. Between all the laughter and dance moves, Sophia couldn’t help but feel proud of how focused and dedicated the boys were. That same day, she had volleyball practice, where the team worked on serving and out-of-system plays. Tuesday was full of cheerfulness and hard work.
As the week continued, Sophia stayed competitive. Wednesday’s scrimmage during volleyball practice gave her a chance to sharpen her skills and work on serving to specific spots. She was feeling competitive and motivated. She had said “I felt like I could take on anything”. On Thursday, her team faced East Lake High School in an intense match, where they won 2–1. While the second set was stressful, they had the first set in control, which set the tone for the rest of the game. Varsity followed up with their own 3–1 win, which added to the excitement. By Friday, the focus was academics as Sophia tackled a last minute setback where she had to redo her entire anatomy project after losing her original work. Although it was a stressful situation, she pushed through and finished it. From hard working practice to stressful work, Sophia was composed and determined through it all. It was a week full of laughter and grinding.
