On September 5th, the Sunlake varsity football team had a home game against the Seminole Warhawks, where they emerged victorious with a whopping 49-0! Sophomore Emma Zalta was there to witness the remarkable event. “I got to see a touchdown at a game,” Zalta states, “it was fun to see the student section and the rest of the people watching get excited.”
Even with all the excitement on the field, Emma’s fondest memories from the game were from off the field. “I think the highlight of the football game was being able to have fun and spend time with my friends,” Zalta remarked. “I usually attend the football games because they are a great way to hang out with friends, socialize, and support the school.” These moments she shares with her peers are a strong part of why Emma thinks that every student should attend at least one football game at some point in their high school career, believing that the games are “an important part of the high school experience and showing school spirit.”
Nearly halfway into football season, Emma does not want to miss out on any of the exciting opportunities awaiting. “I plan on attending all the upcoming games as well as the homecoming game,” she commented, “I’m also running for homecoming court.” Zalta has been out campaigning among her classmates in preparation for the homecoming dance, which is September 20th. However, the dance isn’t the only activity Emma is looking forward to. “I’m excited to dress up for all the themes for homecoming week and take fun pictures.” She also plans on being a part of the powderpuff game as well as skit, and not just from the crowd. “I am in both [powderpuff and skit], and am very excited to play football and be a part of the class skit with all my friends.”
Overall, the football game was an absolute blast, the kind of experience that most students can agree was unforgettable. Even so, one doesn’t need to be into athletics in order to enjoy the game. The best part about attending is making lasting memories with the people you go with.
