For junior Mia Walter, Powderpuff has become more than just a game, it’s a tradition. Stepping onto the field for her third year, Mia knew what to expect: the excitement, the competition, and, of course, the unforgettable memories with her classmates.
“The best part always starts before the game. Getting ready with my friends makes the night so awesome” Mia shared. From painting faces to hyping each other up, the preparation sets the tone for the game ahead. The juniors came in with determination, proud to face off against the sophomores. They were focused on their matchup with the underclassmen as they have practiced for weeks.
The stands were packed with energy, the students cheering so loudly it felt like a championship game. “The crowd was full and excited,” Mia remembered. That atmosphere pushed the juniors to give it everything they had on the field. The highlight of the night came when the juniors and sophomores found themselves locked in an intense tie. “My favorite memory was when we were tied with the sophomores and went into overtime,” Mia said. Every play mattered, and the intensity of the game reminded everyone why Powderpuff is such a peak of the school year.
For Mia, the game wasn’t just about winning, it was about being part of something bigger. “It was my 3rd year of Powderpuff and it was so fun! I look forward to doing it next year!” she said, already eager for her senior season. And with her competitive spirit, she left a bit of advice for the juniors who will play next year. “Plan more offensive plays because strong defense can only take you so far. If you want to win, you’ve got to take risks, move the ball, and go for those big moments.”
With her love for the game and dedication to her team, Mia helped make this year’s Powderpuff one to remember.
