For Sadey Mathis, playing golf has been an unforgettable part of her high school experience and a lifelong passion. She has been playing competitively for four years, but a sport has always been a part of her life. From casual games with her family to high school tournaments, golf has been a constant source of joy, challenges, friendship, and shaping who she is both on and off the course.
Throughout her time on that team, Sadey has built lasting memories and strong friendships. “Being on the team has been such a blessing throughout high school,” she says ” It’s given me a group of close friends and a team I can always fall back on if I need anything no matter what is happening.” Whether it was early morning practice, cheering each other on during tough rounds, or celebrating after a match, Sadey has cherished every moment. Playing every day surrounded by people who share her love for the sport has made her high school years something truly special.
Senior night was a standout moment for Sadey, a mix of excitement, emotion, and gratitude. Having been on the team since freshman year, it felt surreal to finally be one of the seniors being celebrated instead of helping to plan the event. “It was nice to be surrounded by my family and friends in such a loving moment,” she says. Seeing so many people come out to support the team made the night even more meaningful. The laughter, conversation, and sense of togetherness during dinner after the match perfectly reflected what golf meant to her and the people she was surrounded by.
The night became even more unforgettable when Sadey helped her team to victory and took first place individually. “Winning on such a special night made it even more memorable,” she recalls with pride. It was a perfect way to end her high school golf career, a moment that reflected all that work, perseverance, and passion she had poured into the sport and her team.
Looking back, Sadey feels thankful for the memories, the lesson, and especially the people who made every season worthwhile. She has grown up with many of her teammates, forming bonds that go beyond the sport. “I’m so grateful for all the hard work, effort, and support from everyone-players, coaches, parents, and fans.” Sadey says, “It made realize how lucky I’ve been to be part of something so special.”
For Sadey, golf was not just a sport-it was home.
