Mr. Taylor has been an AP US History teacher for many Sunlake students currently and in the past. He loves to use sarcasm and memes in his lessons to keep his students engaged. His weeks are very busy, and the week of September 29th was no different. When asked he said that he, “Plucked the hair off my toes because they were extra hairy.” Something he remembers specifically eating that week was, “Ostrich chimichanga’s.” This shows how he keeps the importance of hygiene and a vast diet even during a hectic week. When occupied by work and sports, balancing one’s life can be very difficult.
During the weekend, after grading assignments for the end of the first quarter he said that he, “Stared at the wall and waited for Monday.” This is a key insight into what teachers do when they aren’t working or grading students’ assignments. Many people dread Monday’s, but Mr. Taylor waits patiently to start his week back up.
Something to remember about Mr. Taylor is his involvement in Sunlake’s baseball team. He often talks about practices or games at the end of class. This also helps him relate to students and their lives because he also must take into consideration how sports events affect his schedule. One thing he is changing this year is that he, “Laced up my shoes differently this year.” By changing this small factor in his routine, it might bring some extra luck to our Sunlake boys baseball team.
In Mr. Taylor’s valuable lectures, he makes sure to include life lessons such as how to treat winning children and how doing hard work can make your life easier. His favorite thing to teach in history is “How to be on time.” Showing up at school and returning to work at the correct time can be essential to success in high school. With the first quarter coming to an end, Mr. Taylor feels uneasy about some of his students as they stare at him weirdly at times. This could be due to the unique jokes and pictures he includes in his lessons that many students judge.
