Isaiah Engelhardt, a very engaged member of the class of 2027, Found himself at the most recent HOSA meeting. HOSA or health occupational students of America, is more than just a club, It’s
a community where students explore the big landscape of health careers. “The people in it and the

community it brings not only helps me every day with confirming if the medical field is really where I want to go but also allows for people to create new connections and friends.” For Isaiah, who has aspired to become a nurse since his childhood, HOSA is the perfect environment. It shows his passion and provides clarity for his future career path.
At the most recent HOSA meeting, members had the opportunity to hear from Surahai, a medical assistant from Tampa General Hospital. Surahai’s visit offered a candid glimpse into the daily life and responsibilities of an M.A. “Learning more about my future and creating friends while doing it really is what makes the club so enjoyable to me.” The opportunity to ask questions and hear real world experiences from a healthcare professional was particularly impactful for students like Isaiah, who want to specialize in various medical fields.
HOSA also provides competitive events, volunteer opportunities, and information on many different aspects of the healthcare field. Isaiah’s involvement in HOSA reflects his approach to shaping his future. For Isaiah, HOSA is about preparing for his career but also about building a community and reinforcing his commitment to a future in healthcare, surround by friends who share his passion. He hopes to continue growing as a leader in the club and looks forward to future meetings, guest speakers, and hands on experiences that will guide him toward becoming the best medical professional he can be.
