When asked what would be considered the highlight of one’s high school experience, many students would enthusiastically discuss their extracurriculars in response. What better way to express yourself than to participate in a club revolving around your passions? The drama club had their most recent meeting on Wednesday, October 15th, and sophomore Alisson “Ally” Alcequiez had much to say about it. “We mostly just talk at the meetings, and at the end of the year we’ll have a banquet and everybody who is in the drama club or associated with the drama club will be able to go, which is going to be very fun.”
“At this last meeting, we discussed about tickets for our play As You Like It, which is soon,” Ally stated. “We also discussed Trick or Treat Around the Track, you know, just those future events, as well as thespian points for our thespian competition!” She happily went into more detail about what thespian competitions are, remarking, “Basically, the thespian competitions are a small group of people in a troupe. We go and take pieces of media, whether it’s a musical or a play, and we go and perform them” Ally does note that she unfortunately would not be participating in the thespian competitions this year, however she will be in the fall play. “Coming up this Halloween weekend we will be doing As You Like It. It’s three nights from October 31st to November 2nd. Also, this weekend we’re doing Trick or Treat Around the Track, where basically our drama club will be at a stand and will be giving out candy to kids! Plus, in December, we have auditions for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the spring musical. It’s about the biblical story of Joseph, it’s really nice.”
But what makes drama club so special to her? Ally views it as a way to interact with like-minded people. “I like my friends, I like dressing up, and just being able to express myself in, like, different ways in different characters, plus it’s always a good time around here. I truly, truly love drama club so much.”
