In Land O’ Lakes the Butterbowl is a big deal. The biggest game of the year is Sunlake V. Land O’ Lakes High School. For the past two years Land O’ Lakes has kept the trophy, but this year Sunlake is fighting for it back. This is Junior Jeffrey Vandiver’s second Butterbowl with a starting position. Jeffrey plays as a Defensive Back for the Sunlake Seahawks. Every time Jeffrey gears up for the game he has “a never-ending itch in the back of his throat that can only be scratched by a Sunlake victory.” Sunlake has a battle harden history with the longest winning streak against Land O’ Lakes for eight straight years. One of those years the final score came out to 49-0 with a Sunlake win. As the off-season begins to approach, this is the time of year when games get won. “I look back at Sunlake’s history and I see what we’ve had, and it’s definitely coming soon. We might’ve not of won this year, but this off-season the one thing everyone must have in common is the want to grind. Next season we will see them on the other sideline and they’ll notice one big change, that we all got bigger baby!”
