This year, students from the class of ’27 joined the scene of high school. At Sunlake High School, some have already partaken in cheering on the school. Freshman Alexander Adkins has just joined Sunlake and attended his first football game while in high school. He claims that he “…enjoyed the first day of school a lot…[because I can] see friends that I didn’t see over the summer and have new opportunities during high school.” By the end of his first day of school, Alexander was able to say: “In high school, I notice that I have a lot more freedom and things to do at school than I had in middle school.” High school is the first introduction of freedom to teenagers; it is a new concept to many that they are in control of their future. In middle school, grades don’t have a large significance toward your future. However, as soon as you take a high school credit class, it is counted for your GPA and comes into play when deciding what college you want to go to. The stress of grades is often balanced by attending fun events after school Alexander has already attended his first football game and said, “…as an energetic person, I enjoyed the student section at some of the football games I’ve gone to. It’s always a good experience.” Football games never seem to let students down and encourage students to be a part of the school spirit. Participating in more school events or clubs helps people find friends with similar interests to them and enjoy high school more. Looking forward to his first year, Alexander says that he is most excited “… to meeting new people and playing sports during my freshman year.” With an exhilarating year ahead of him, Alexander and other freshmen are now taking part of the Seahawk culture. With many years of high school still in front of them, these Seahawks will be adopting the Seahawk pride quickly.
