The journey of a fellow student deciding to take a leap and get out of her comfort zone. Anastasia Rakoch is a junior at Sunlake High School. Anastasia has always been a girl who likes to stay busy. When she is not in school, Anastasia enjoys cheering in her free time. She has been an all star cheerleader for seven years. During her freshman year, her family relocated from their home in Canada to Florida. Now that she has become more adjusted to her life here in the state of Florida, she has decided that it is time to try something new.
This year, Anastasia decided she wanted to be more involved in her school community, saying: “I want to be more involved in school.” She is excited to participate in Powderpuff for the first time with her friends and hopes to make some new friends along the way. She also decided to join yearbook to become more of an active member in her school community. She chose these new activities because she felt that it would help her feel more connected to her school community. When asked why she chose to join yearbook versus another class or club to get involved in, Anastasia states “It would be fun to be able to be behind the hard work of creating the yearbook.” She is really looking forward to being a part of the yearbook committee and plans on continuing her yearbook career for the rest of her time here at Sunlake. Anastasia hopes to learn new skills that she will be able to carry out all through her life. Anastasia hopes to learn photography skills and improve in public speaking. Anastasia wants to be able to take the social and academic skills she learns in yearbook class to help her succeed. Anastasia believes that joining yearbook will better her academically and socially.
