Isabella Santos is a rising junior and a new yearbook staffer at Sunlake High School. Isabella has decided to take the yearbook course this school year due to her interest in expanding what she already knows about graphic design and photography. As a yearbook staff member, Isabella plans to take the skills that she will learn with the skills that she already has, to make this year’s yearbook the best one yet. Although writing is a component of this course, she plans to focus more on the previous two components; digital design and photography. Isabella Santos comically mentions, “I want to do digital design and photography more because I am not a fan of writing.” This particular preference that Isabella has helped to make helped to make her decision of what role she wanted to take as a yearbook staffer much easier.

Throughout the school year, Isabella is excited to cover the sporting events and clubs taking place at Sunlake High School. One of her main goals is to pursue sports photography. She wants to photograph sports like football to capture the excitement of Friday night lights, as well as volleyball because she has many friends that play on the team. She also is interested in covering content for clubs at Sunlake High School. Isabella mentioned that she wants to cover content for these clubs because, “I’m in a lot of clubs here like Hawkeye, and Key Club.” Her connections to the clubs she takes part in allows her to easily grab content for the segment of this years yearbook that features the clubs taking place at Sunlake High School, and their activities.

Participating in the yearbook this year, and the following year to come aligns with her want to continue photography outside of the classroom. Another one of Isabella’s main aspirations is to continue photography after she graduates from Sunlake High School. She said that next to her chosen career path, “I would do photography in the future as sort of a side gig.” Her participation in photography throughout the yearbook course will allow her to strengthen her photography skills in order for her to complete this goal in the near future.
