Ms. Gochenaur is the DE English and AP Seminar teacher here at Sunlake High School. She is quite skilled in her field of work, providing quite creative feedback and complimenting clever use of words to convey messages. Her students seem to really enjoy her class, and she had quite the eventful week from September 4th through September 8th. When interviewed about the week, she calmly, but with a dash of thinly veiled excitement, explained that she felt that her students “…accomplished a lot” throughout the week. Several other, more eventful and insightful occurrences happened. One of the more enlightening ones was when her AP Seminar students arrived in class the day following labor day confused on why there was no school on labor day. She had to explain why “…we had a labor day holiday” to the curious students. Another quite eventful moment that week was, upon a few students arriving late to her class, they had to stand outside her classroom and “dance at the door” which she mentioned that it “…took a turn.” When asked why she chose to make the students dance in front of the door instead of simply marking them tardy, she replied with she thought “…it was fun to tell students to dance and figure out how to dance to get in.” Her enthusiasm is contagious, and it spreads fast among her students, helping them out whenever they ask for it. The influence of a teacher on their students is powerful. She acts like a guardian of knowledge, passing it on to her students, as she wishes them the best of luck in the future.
