Hurricane Idalia came storming through Florida on the weekend of August 29th. With schools closing as a precaution, much of Sunlake’s staff were asked to help out at the school’s shelter. Mrs. Pam however was spared; “…they asked us to work but only about six people came to stay at the shelter so I was able to stay home.” When asked what she did at home, Mrs. Pam said “…we prepared ourselves for worst case scenario just like we do every year. We got our generators, propane, water, I had it all. Once we secured all of our stuff we just rode it out like the rest of them.” Mrs. Pam went on to describe the hurricane as anticlimactic and complained that “…it’s the same nonsense every year.”
