Picture day is a highly anticipated event for most students. Many want to finally get a new photo, where they look better compared to previous years. Junior Samantha Mizak is one of the students eager to get a new picture and prepare for this day. Students also use picture day as an excuse to dress up nicely for school. When asked what she does for preparations for the day, Samantha said, “I always pick out my outfit and hair a few days before out of excitement.” Students yearly talk about how they hope to get a good picture and photographer. When asked about her experience this year, Samantha said, “It was a very pleasant experience. The photographer was very nice and not rushed compared to last year.” Students’ experiences improving with the years is a big part of them having a positive opinion on the day rather than a negative one.
While being meant for student’s photos, picture day is not just for students; parents await it yearly as well. It is an opportunity for parents to buy pictures of their children and observe how they have grown and changed over the years. Samantha says that her parents buy pictures every year with no exceptions. Parents buy pictures so that they have something to look back on later. Picture day, while disliked by some and liked by others, is important so that in the future people can look back at the pictures for a sense of nostalgia. These moments become cherished and missed.
