The Sunlake girls’ golf team has an exciting week ahead of them. Not only will they be celebrating their Senior Night, but they will also verse the school rivals all in one game! Senior Alyssa Mixon is on the girls’ golf team and expressed her feelings about Senior Night, and the confidence she has in her team. She says, “I am super excited to play the school rival on Senior Night
because it gives us a chance to show (our rivals) our talent and have a victory on that Senior Night!” The Seahawks have been having practices after school and working hard to be the best that they can for all of their games, especially Senior Night. Alyssa is proud of the team and says that they “…have been preparing for this by helping each other fix mistakes so that all of our games are improving.” Senior Night will be a sentimental experience for Alyssa, as she has been playing golf since she was seven years old and said “…it has forever been my passion.”
This year will not be the end of her golf journey, though. Alyssa’s love and skill for this sport gives her the opportunity to pursue it further than high school, and she has plans to continue playing collegiately at a very competitive level. She announced that “…after high school, I am going to Bradley University to play Division I golf!” There is definitely something to say about Sunlake High School’s athletes, and how they always strive for success. Alyssa Mixon displays this perfectly and contributes to the reputation of the Seahawks.
