This week saw no major things going on while preparations for the Skit Night and Powderpuff night continued. Ticket sales for the Homecoming dance continued, and it was confirmed that during this week homecoming tickets ended up selling out. Other than all the Homecoming prep, there was nothing too notable; however, some students had a major week. This year marks the beginning of the class of 2027’s journey in high school, as all the freshman begin their first year.
Jake Carter is a freshman at Sunlake High School. He has acclimated well to this new school so far and seems to be enjoying his classes and friends. For Jake, this week was very mellow; however, he had some obstacles. When talking about these obstacles and how he overcame them, he said, “Geometry I had a quiz and I had to review a lot. After, I felt way more confident because I didn’t know anything.” Geometry can be a rigorous class and very difficult for some, but with his patience, and lots of studying, he learned everything well. Him overcoming math was huge for him. With not much happening this week, he said he did, “..start reading Fahrenheit 451 and I kind of like reading.” He seemed to enjoy the book and loved being introduced to this fictional world that is set in the future. He is not involved in any clubs or after-school activities, to which he said: “I just haven’t thought of doing anything and nothing seems interesting to me.”
Other than reading a new book and overcoming geometry, nothing very major happened for him this week. Overall, he described his week by saying: “It was good, just because it felt normal week and nothing weird was going on.” It did definitely feel normal with no days off or anything going on, marking a more mundane moment in school.
