Starting the week off strong, seniors Chiara Di Leo and Rylee Vogt had swept Sunlake off their feet with their outfits by winning Mondays’ contest for Future Me costumes. Rylee explains, “I was an old lady inspired by my nana; this is actually her nightgown I’m wearing. I’m not really sure what I want to be when I grow up, so I was like ‘Well, I know for sure I’ll be old one day!’ So, you know, it’s a good outfit choice.” When asked about the nerves that come with standing out, she adds, “All my friends do it with me, so it makes it better. I would say to any freshman or anyone who’s worried about dressing up and looking stupid; no one is going to think about it that much. Everyone’s going to forget about it the next day so you might as well make as many memories as you can in high school and go out because you’ll look back and be glad that you did!”
As for Chiara, she said: “I dressed up as an insane asylum escapee. I picked my outfit because I knew that nobody else would probably be doing it.” She also stated: “I thought this would be a funny outfit to do! I thought I might stand a better chance just because I didn’t see anybody with my kind of costume, I knew that I’d be up there.” She goes on to say, “My freshman year I didn’t really do it. But then sophomore, junior, and senior year? I’ve dressed up ever since. I think it’s really fun and people should participate every year, all the time. Everyone should be dressed up as something – anything.”
