Sunlake High School’s Junior Varsity volleyball team is full of new Seahawks that are playing high school volleyball for the first time. As they reach the season’s final stretch, they continue to improve and grow as a team, as well as take a lot of wins against their opponents. Freshman Brooke Hopkins is a setter on the team and she shared a little about her experience on the team so far. She says that she is really enjoying the season and that “…it is a lot different from middle school.” Brooke says that her favorite game was “…when we played Mitchell the first time at the tournament.” This tournament that they participated in allowed them to play multiple games against different teams, and Mitchell made it challenging and fun for them. Brooke’s favorite part about being on the team is “…definitely the practices, although at the beginning the six laps every practice were really hard.” She loves how her team feels like a family and says “…I am close with a lot of my teammates outside of volleyball.” As the season comes to end end for JV, with only a few games left in the season, Brooke says that she will miss having practice everyday because “…it gave me something to do.” Although she doesn’t plan to do another sport at school, Brooke will be playing club volleyball once the season ends. Her goal for the team for the rest of the season is that they will “…play more together…” and finish the season off with lots of wins!
