On September 13th the Sunlake swim team participated in their first swim meet of the season against Mitchell High School. Senior Mason Lockert prepared for the meet by getting a good night sleep the night before and showing up to practice throughout the week. This is Mason’s fourth and final year being on the Sunlake swim team so he claimed he felt very prepared for the meet. At the meet, Mason competed in the 200-medley relay, the 200 free relay, and the 100 breaststrokes. He felt like he performed well in everything that he competed in but the best in the 100 breaststrokes. Overall, at the swim meet Mason thought him and the rest of the team did really well. Although there is always room for improvement throughout the season, if they keep up the hard work, they will get stronger as a team. One way Mason thinks the team could improve is by getting to know one another to grow a stronger bond. Out of Masons four years of being on the swim team, he said,” I think I work better with this year’s team because I feel like I’m friends with mostly everyone on the team.”
