On the first Tuesday of October, Sunlake High School held a college fair for students in the morning. College admissions officers from all over the state met in the school’s gymnasium to educate juniors and seniors about colleges they could attend in the future. Maggie Chauncy is a junior who attended the fair. She is very involved in activities both in and outside of school; she takes part in multiple extracurriculars including mountain biking, pole vaulting, and being the president of the Random Acts of Appreciation club.
Maggie is excited for her graduation in two years, but she still doesn’t quite know which colleges she should apply to or what she wants to study. “I’m not entirely sure what I want to major in yet, but I think I want to do something communications related,” she said. She hopes to find extracurriculars like pole vaulting and mountain biking at college. “Even if I can’t figure out what I want to do at college, I think it’s okay,” she explains. “I’m only seventeen and I’ve got lots of life ahead of me, so it’s not a huge deal if I can’t pick a major right now. I want to be able to try new things anyway.”
