Dress-up days, Skit, Powderpuff, the pep rally, the Homecoming football game, and the Homecoming dance are some of the many Homecoming activities at Sunlake High School. Students get excited for this week and most love to participate in the activities. One of the most popular is Powderpuff where the boys cheer on the girls while they play football. The boys also put on a funny and exciting halftime show where they dance to songs. It’s always a competitive, but fun time.
Sophomore Jack Haynes is a part of the student council team for the class of 2026. He is heavily involved with Homecoming activities at Sunlake including Powderpuff. During Powderpuff you may feel nervous, scared, or even excited. Jack said he “…wasn’t nervous about Powderpuff because it’s meant for you to have fun. I joined Powderpuff because I thought it would be fun to do with my friend and I enjoyed dancing and going up against other classes and being competitive,” Jack continued. The overall experience of powderpuff is not meant to scare students, but, instead, to get them out of their comfort zone to have some fun. The whole experience is what makes it fun for everyone. Jack also said, “I recommend it for other students. My most memorable moment was going out there and in front of the students and parents and having a great time.” Regarding his overall experience, he said the best part about Powderpuff was, “Being able to work and learn how to dance and cheer on our Powderpuff girls and motivate them. The most rewarding part was doing well on the dance.”
