Junior Yasmine Al-Sheleh partook in Sunlake’s enthusiastic and creative spirit week. This event focused on students showing their school spirit by dressing up in a new costume each day of the week. Yasmine showed off her enthusiasm by participating in the morning parades and dressing up every day the entire week.
She truly enjoyed the activities each day and made some wonderful memories. On Monday, for Future Me day, she dressed up as a mom. On Tunes Tuesday, she went as Nicki Minaj. Wednesday, Class Day, she chose to be Ms. America, a character from to class of 2025 skit. However, the highlight of her week came on Thursday when she dressed as a pimp along with her friend who was a shrimp. It was the costume she enjoyed the most. Yasmine even shared, “I loved planning the costumes and taking pictures.” This costume was for Rhyme Without Reason Day. Friday was the day students showed their school spirit by putting on their school colors. The whole week was not just about individual expression; it also involved collaborative events like morning rallies and parades to bring school spirit. Yasmine described the rallies as having a positive impact. She explained that she “…loved seeing all the costumes and it made the week really enjoyable.”
All in all, Yasmine’s participation in her school’s Spirit Week was an energetic experience filled with creativity, fun, and a lot of school spirit. The variety of costumes she wore throughout the week was an appreciation for events like this as she said “I love spirit week and I think that all students should because it’s a lot of fun and something to look forward to each year.” Yasmine’s joy in planning costumes, taking pictures, and celebrating with her fellow students created a week filled with school spirit that she will never forget.
