Senior Kaiya Dorcas has been swimming in competitively for six years but has been swimming for Sunlake for the past three. Like all swimming seniors, she recently celebrated her senior night. She said that “It was really fun but it was delayed. Everyone was really dedicated to getting senior night done so the swimmers and parents stayed for a few hours.” Not only is this a big moment for Kaiya but her parents and team as well. Kaiya said, “I think the parents really made it special because all the hard work they put into senior night.” Kaiya said her parents “…were very proud of me and my accomplishments and how I’m going to take my accomplishments at high school swim to the next level as in college.” Every senior during senior night can take a mental moment to reflect on their high school swim career. For Kaiya, it made her “…realize how badly I want to continue my swim career into college because I really love swim and I never want to stop.” Kaiya has plans to swim after high school and has dreams to swim at the University of Texas. She shared that she “…will do anything to get a chance to swim there.”
