Sunlake rolled out the red carpet for the Homecoming Dance! On September 22, senior Joshua Williamson, like most other Sunlake students, pulled up to Homecoming for a good time and lasting memories. Josh went with a group of his friends. Before the night started, some important tasks had to be completed. “…I had to go to Target, Ross, and JCPenney…” to get a brand new outfit before the dance. He ended up with “…a burgundy-colored shirt, a black vest, black dress pants, and black shoes.” He and his group met up before the dance, had food at Wendy’s, and “…took pictures at the Carrabba’s plaza.”
After, Josh and his friends headed over to the Sunlake gym at seven to start the night. They hit the dance floor and got straight to partying it up. The dance floor, according to Joshua, “…was chaotic, sweaty, hot, and smelly.” He mentioned that although it could be kind of gross, the best thing to do was set those factors out of mind and enjoy the night. At one point, Josh ended up in the air in a moment of spontaneity. “I think it was my friend Scott; he just told me to get on his shoulder, and I was like okay. He just hoisted me up, and everyone started jumping and hyping me up.” As for the DJ, Josh mentioned that “…he was pretty good.” However, if he had to change one thing about the dance, he said that he “…would play a few more party songs…”
Every year, the school also provides food for students at the dance. “It was better than last year,” Joshua said. “They had sandwiches and cinnamon-covered pretzels. I thought that was pretty good.” There were also two different photo stations at Homecoming; however, Josh said that the lines were very long, so he skipped it. Overall, Josh loved the theme with all the iconic movies and films. His favorite part of the night was “…dancing and having fun with my friends. Having a good time all together.”
