Ever think about what a week as a Sunlake student-athlete looks like? Sophomore Gavin Clarke likes to keep himself busy between sports, hanging out with friends, and attending school events. This is Gavin’s second year on the Sunlake junior varsity baseball team. He plays second base. On Monday there was no school due to a teacher planning day. Gavin hung out with friends to have an enjoyable day off. On Tuesday and Thursday, Gavin had baseball practice after school. After baseball practice, he went home and did all the homework he had that night. On Wednesday, he had a baseball game in which Sunlake played Zephyrhills High School when asked about the game Gavin states “We all played really well and I’m happy we won.” On Friday, he attended Butter bowl. This is when Sunlake plays a rival game against Land O’ Lakes High School. Butter bowl is one of the biggest games of the year. Everyone gets excited and cheers loudly. Even though Sunlake sadly lost, Gavin still had an amazing time. When asked if he enjoyed the game Gavin states “I had so much fun hanging out with my friends.” He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and spending his Friday night cheering on his school and the football players. On Saturday, Gavin went and watched a little league baseball game. Then on Saturday night, he went to a birthday party for one of his friends. Overall, Gavin really enjoyed his four day school week, along with spending time with his classmates, teammates, and friends outside of school.
