Mr. Fernandez is Sunlake’s robotics teacher and a member of civil air patrol. He reflected on the intriguing week he had October 16-20th. On Tuesday of that week while at a training for district, he explained that “…there was a big incident over at Land O Lakes Highschool nearby.” From what he can recall, “Apparently, there were some envelopes with white powder in them, and a random box and they had to evacuate the school.” The police got involved, as well as paramedics and even the fire department. On the other hand, back at Sunlake, students are “…getting into what they’re learning.” As the only robotics teacher, Mr. Fernandez has to deal with a lot of classes including Foundations of Robotics, Robotics Systems, Robotics Application Capstone, as well as the sponsor of the Gaming Club. He is known for being a well mannered and calm person inside and outside of class with a very commanding presence when necessary to take control if his classes get too out of hand or too loud. He’s also an officer of Sunlake’s own Civil Air Patrol, lead by Mr. Aragon. He will occasionally wear his uniform in class. Sometimes it’s barely noticed by students, despite the rarity of such an event and the fact that he is a robotics teacher.
