Senior Jordyn Freiermuth is a student in AP United States Government and Politics. This week, the class simulated a model Congress to go along with their lessons in class. Jordyn stated, “Model Congress was a representation of how our government passes bills in Congress and gave students a chance to voice their stance on certain issues.” The goal of this assignment was to allow students to speak on issues they care about as if they were United States Representatives. This, Jordyn said, gave students “…a sense of power…” and a better idea of how to promote change. Overall, Jordyn claimed her experience with model Congress was very beneficial and helped her gain “…a greater understanding of how our government functions and passes laws that protect us as citizens.”
