October is nearing its end, which means a season filled with frightful fun is almost finished. Before the Halloween month closed off, there was one final event that the enthusiastic Sunlake students and families participated in. On Saturday, October 28th, Sunlake held it’s annual Trick or Treat Around the Track event. Over 20 clubs and teams volunteered, which is an overwhelming amount of support for the event. One of the many clubs that was joining in on the Halloween fun was the Drama Club. Representative and supporter Tyler Zacharias volunteered for the event because “I hadn’t volunteered for the previous year’s and I thought it’d be a fun experience.” The event began at 9:00 AM and at that time there were very few people walking around the track. However, as time went on, Tyler explained that, “There was quite a lot of people. A lot of people were running booths and there were a lot of children.”
As one of the members of Drama Club who was handing out candy, Tyler got to see a lot of interesting costumes from kids and teachers. “I was dressed up as Maverick from “Top Gun”. I saw some mini Mavericks and a lot of Barbies.” There was even a member of Drama Club dressed up as Barbie. The energy from the crowd was great, but a little chaotic at certain points. “I would say a lot of people were hyped up for the occasion, but there were a lot of people who just didn’t know what to do.” There were especially a lot of little kids who did not know what to do, with their parents sending them up to the booths by themselves. Every club that volunteered had a booth with games and candy for the little ones to have fun with. Each club tried their hardest to make sure they had a fun setup to show off. Tyler and a few other members of Drama Club ran around the track to scope out what the other booths were doing. When asked about which club he though had the best booth. Tyler said “I mean, representing theater club, I’d day we did a good job. However, robotics did have a robot giving out candy; that was pretty cool.” With an empty cauldron sitting at Drama Club’s booth at the end of the event, Tyler and his fellow members came to the conclusion that this year had been yet another successful year of Trick or Treat Around the Track.
