On October 28th, Sunlake High School’s annual Trick or Treat around the Track was a fun day for all ages to get in the Halloween spirit. All of the different groups, teams, and clubs came to the track to entertain, give out candy, and set up games for the kids that stopped by from all around the community. Sophomore Kylie Hudgins volunteered at the event and shared her experience. Since she is on the school’s soccer team, she helped out at the soccer booth for Trick or Treat Around the Track. To prepare, she states, “…I had to help set up our tent, bring out the mini soccer goals for the kids to kick into, and put out all the decorations from our booth.” The students worked together to make sure that everyone who came to the event felt welcomed, whether that was by giving out candy, helping with the games, or taking pictures. They volunteered from 8:00 in the morning until noon, and definitely made the most out of their time there. Kylie says, “…I helped mostly with giving kids their candy after they shot a goal.” She was also busy filling in for other areas and stated, “…I was pretty busy because in the beginning we didn’t have many people working our booth so I was having to teach kids how to kick plus give away the candy.” All of the kids that showed up came dressed in their Halloween costumes, and the volunteers really enjoyed seeing them all. Kylie says, “My favorite part of the event was seeing all of the different costume the kids dressed up in. There were some really cool ones.” Over all, Trick or Treat around the Track sounds like it was a success for both the Sunlake students and the community that made it all possible.
