Senior Caden Johnson recently got to play in his last Butterbowl ever, which was very bittersweet. Our Seahawks unfortunately lost to the Land O’ Lakes Gators, with a score of 20-6. Caden plays both running back and wide receiver. Caden stated, “I have been playing receiver for all my middle school and high school career, so it is second nature for me. I started playing running back this year and fell in love with it. Running out of the backfield is a different feeling compared to being a receiver. It is a lot more intense with people surrounding you, and you must decide which hole is going to get you out.” Butterbowl was intense with crowds of people on both sides and packed in the student sections. Caden said, “Butterbowl felt just like how it always feels: tensions were high, the stadium was full, and fans were screaming. I would say the game did not feel as competitive as it did in previous years; players were still trash-talking, but there was not as much hate as there was during this game, and there were not a lot of fights. The game went well for the cards we were given; we kept the game close for most of it. There is no doubt in my mind that if we had an older team that we would have beat Land O. That said, I had a wonderful time playing that game; it was the one that meant most to me all year; it was also my last game of the regular season due to an injury. I was very emotional during that game, mostly happy, because of how close the game was, even with us having a varsity team with a bunch of freshmen and sophomores, I believed that every one of the younger guys on our team could hold their own during that game and I was proud that they did not throw in the towel knowing that they were at a disadvantage.” Regarding the future, Caden plans to run track in college, but if he gets offered to a school that has both football and track along with an engineering major, he will heavily consider playing football in college.
