The week of November 6th to the 10th was a normal week for students and staff at Sunlake. This week was the second to last week before Thanksgiving Break. This week went normal for Mrs. O’Sullivan and her chemistry students. Mrs. O’Sullivan said she taught her students that week, “…about chemical reactions during that week including balancing equations.” One thing of significance that happened is her students focused on counting molecules and started practicing some equations. Since chemistry is a science class there are a lot of labs. A lab her class did that week was a reaction rates lab where the objective was to evaluate the effect of concentration on the rate of a reaction. They also examined the effect of temperature on the rate of a chemical reaction. As part of the lab that week, the students had to test reaction rates by mixing things and examine the temperature on the rate of a chemical reaction. Items used in the labs were balloons, water, baking soda, a scale, vinegar, and a measuring tape.
