Veterans Day is an important day for many people living in the United States. For students at Sunlake, the holiday means a variety of things for students. For senior Paulina Edwards, Veterans Day means something a little bit different than most. She said, “As a Russian immigrant whose parents achieved the American Dream, I grew up with stories of my father’s experiences during 9/11. I am grateful for the veterans and first responders who have helped the country that I have the privilege of living in now.” When asked what she did this year on Veterans Day, Paulina said, “I work in a nursing home and many of the residents there are veterans. We honored the residents with great food and cheerful smiles!” Although Paulina is not directly related to any veterans and does not have a close personal connection with the holiday, she still loves the celebration and admires the spirit in America.
