Janiah Dyer is a senior here at Sunlake High School. Janiah is an active member of the Black Student Union Club. The Black Student Union is a place where students can come together and learn about black culture. The club is for anyone who is interested in learning about black culture. The club consists of activities, events, discussions, and creating a sense of community. Meetings are centered around group activities such as playing games and group discussions. When asked why she decided to join the Black Student Union Janiah stated, “I wanted to be involved with a club that could connect black students with each other and create a sense of community.” Janiah has hope that the Black Student Union will make connections in the black community. When asked what Janiah hopes for the future of the club she stated, “I hope to see a large focus in community service work. This would help others while giving members volunteer opportunities.” The Black Student Union is a club not only to make a difference in the world but a fun space and environment for many.
