Sunlake High School senior, Alyssa Rivera, has been spending a lot of time preparing for the upcoming 2023-2024 basketball season. Her preparation includes doing many basketball drills and focusing on fundamentals to reach her goals on the court this season. She has also been adjusting to the role of being one of the oldest on the team, as well as where she stands on the team as a senior. She expresses that, “I am enjoying my last ride, and I feel like I am a role model for those that are younger than me.”
In addition to preparing for her senior season, Alyssa has participated in a couple of fun team bonding activities like the “Lock In,” where they have a team sleepover in the gym, and going to a basketball game at USF with her teammates. From this she said that “I really enjoyed it and I feel like we have a better connection because of it. Alyssa also had her first few preseason games this week, and came out of them with one win and one loss. After this, she conveyed that, “I would say we can take them as learning experiences to become better for when the season actually starts.”
