Soccer season at Sunlake High School has begun and the Lady Seahawks are off to a great start. Their win against Steinbrenner marked their third win of the season, and kept them undefeated. Junior Claudia Montealegre is on the varsity team and shares that “…The game showed our team’s work ethic and perseverance, and I think we worked really hard to beat Steinbrenner.” The Seahawks have had some great seasons in the past, and the team has confidence in their skill that they will continue to do well. Claudia says, “…We’ve had a great start to our season and I’m honestly not surprised. Our team has been incredibly dedicated and serious about all our games.” The team’s main goal is to make it to states and they believe they can accomplish that with the right mindset.
Claudia also expresses her appreciation for her team and says, “…I love them because we are like a family. They all inspire me to not only be a better player, but a better person as well.” Along with the excitement of winning games, “…I really appreciate being on this team because we have all built such a strong bond towards each other,” says Claudia. As the girls continue to dominate throughout the season, the Sunlake students will be cheering them on along the way in hopes of seeing them in states again this season.
